1st Term Highlights for Chuck Nickolay, Mayor of New Prague, MN – 2012 Re-Election Bid

by Chuck Nickolay on September 3, 2012

  1. Main Street, Re-elect Nickolay For Mayor Of New Prague, MNProactively managed the city’s financial operations which helped the city achieve the same city bond rating from both Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s. Both organizations feel the city has and will maintain balanced operations and strong reserves.
  2. Encouraged and stayed closely involved with the Chart Expansion project in New Prague. I met directly with company personnel as well as with county, school and state officials to secure incentives for the expansion.
  3. Stayed involved with the turn-around of the golf course. I served on a committee that recommended the hiring of a third party to manage the course. I have followed the progress and feel that we are headed in the right direction. I know we still have work to do and will continue to monitor and suggest ideas that will eventually allow the course to be self-sustaining.
  4. Approved a zero increase budget for 2012. This was critical due to the uncertainty of revenue from real estate taxes when the state implemented the change from a Homestead Credit to Home Value exclusion formula.
  5. Working on refinancing the PFA loan with the state for our Waste treatment plant, which should enable the city to stabilize future rates.
